Who are we?

The Outsmart was founded out of love.

About

Shannon Sanguinetti, Founder

Shannon is a former cognitive and behavioral neuroscience researcher who has been investigating cognition and behavior, as it relates to stress since 2005.

"Ever since I was young, people have confided some of their deepest darkest secrets in me. Secrets like self-mutilation, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mental health decline, learning disabilities, extramarital affairs, sexual assault, verbal abuse, drug use and more. I didn't understand why they told me at the time but was always there to listen. When I was 14, my mother became depressed and suicidal. As I watched her rapid decline, I couldn't help but search for ways to help. It compelled me to investigate the biological root causes of  mental ailments, leading her to seek a Ph.D. in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience."

She decided to leave the Ph.D. program after 4 years of lab work, and graduate with a Master's En Passant, which started her journey into investigating behavior in real-life scenarios as she realized that she was also struggling with depression. "What I discovered is important for every human to know. This information is the key to personal happiness and growth." The Outsmart was founded to give that knowledge back to the world for a better tomorrow.

"I truly want and believe that every human on the planet should have this information."

More about Shannon: Born and raised in FL to Jamaican parents, she spent multiple years in Washington D.C., played college soccer, loves singing, scuba diving, kite boarding and helping people.

In the words of Tupac Shakur,

"Let's change the way we eat,

let's change the way we live

and change the way we treat each other.

You see, the old way wasn't working, so it's on us to do what we've got to do to survive."
